L is for Lego

I already run a feature every Monday combining Lego with Bench Monday, imaginatively titled Lego Bench Monday, and so I'm often on the lookout for some new minifigures or Lego items to use. I've found that Firestar Toys is the best UK website (apart from eBay) for finding rare and unusual Lego bits and pieces, although it can be a little pricey. I have a wishlist on the site and often add various things to purchase when I have the spare cash. Here are a few of my favourite items that are currently on my wishlist:

Iron Man

Tony Stark

Bane's head

Campfire

Bench With Flowers

Keyboard

Sparrow (really?)

And the best of all, Queen Amidala!

G is for Goals

Usually I'm one for making lists. I like the satisfaction of ticking things off. I've even been known to add things to my list after I've done them, just so I can tick them off. My list obsession has dwindled of late, and so has my goal making. I think I've lost direction a bit, especially with my Etsy shop and my sewing. I want to relaunch my Etsy shop with a new banner, some new designs and some old favourites. But I need some solid goals and a real sense of direction to actually make anything happen.

I'm a born procrastinator. I also take on too many things. There is a very fine balance between taking on enough activities to give me variety, but not so many as to make me panic and then get nothing done. I also get on better when I share my goals. So what better way than to share a few goals with you, and hopefully to be inspired by your goals too.

♥ Design a new banner for my Fur Will Fly Etsy shop. It needs to represent all the new sewing ideas I have, but also my original style. Once this is made I can retake the photo for my blog banner too.

♥ Make a list of the top 10 bestsellers, remake them and list in the shop so that it isn't completely empty.

♥ Get out my sketchbook and just put my ideas down onto paper. It's no use having them floating around my head.

♥ Set a date for the grand relaunch.

♥ Get sewing regularly, even if it is only a tiny amount each day. (And sew that damn button back on my coat!).

My white and red blood cells - definitely on the bestseller list.

Project 52 - Rings and Things

Out of all the types of jewellery, rings are my favourite thing to wear - I have lots of them in unusual shapes and styles, and some that mean an awful lot to me. I just couldn't think of a way to photograph them all, and my attempts at wearing as many as I could, didn't quite work out!

My next idea was inspired by the bag of British-themed Haribo sweets I was bought over the Jubilee weekend. It contained lots of yummy jelly rings. My aim was to save them until the following day so I could make a photo out of them, but temptation won over and I scoffed the lot!

An impromptu trip to the local Aldi supermarket on Monday saved the day - here I spotted the last remaining bag of mini Party Rings! I used to loooove Party Rings, and here they were in mini form!! Perfect. My first photos were of them alone, but it was missing the 'and things' part of the theme. My brain suggested children's toys as a colourful accompaniment - and from there, my Alice in Wonderland children's party theme photo was born.

Hungry Lego Bench Monday!

A typical spring afternoon in the park - a mother watches over her son as he feeds the ducks on the pond - ahh.

L is for... Lalaloopsy

Yes I know how old I am, but Lalaloopsy dolls are just so adorable. They were once rag dolls who came to life when their very last stitch was sewn! They each have personalities that come from the fabrics used to create them. In another life, I think I could have been the creator of Lalaloopsy - button eyes, vintage fabrics, tea, baking, sewing - all very 'me' - but alas, I just have to make do with collecting them instead.

My latest 2 mini dolls are Sir Battlescarred and Lady Stillwaiting, who come with such cute little accessories and pets too (a dragon and a unicorn). You can use their packaging as a little scene/house too.

My large doll is Prairie Dusty Trails. I bought her because she has brown hair, and as a child I was always annoyed by the amount of blonde dolls compared to brunettes. Seems this has carried on into adulthood.

Sunny Lego Bench Monday

This lucky young Lego lady found a very kind gentleman to help her avoid the hot sunshine today. It looks like he may be struggling a bit with that umbrella though.

Boring Lego Bench Monday

At least one of them looks like they're having a good time. I do hope this isn't their first date.

"Say Cheese", it's Lego Bench Monday!

A nice traditional photo of 3 generations of the Lego family - son, father and gramps. One for the album!

In A Row - Project 52

This photo turned out to be a total pain to take - I could only find one complete pair of my old Barbie shoes (luckily bought these pairs from the local secondhand toy shop), the dolls kept falling over, the desk lamp I was using for light fell on the floor so the bulb broke, and my knees hurt from trying to get in the right position. Moan over.

I intended to just have the shoes in a row, but thought the legs looked better. I used polaroid effect and added a slight matte border using Picnik.
